Money Saving Tips That Are Right There in Your Home!

A penny saved is a penny earned

Hey Homeowner!

Here is a short (and witty!) list of effective money saving tips you can squeeze out of your home with minimal effort. Don't lie to yourself, you've done way more inconvenient and annoying things to NOT save money.

1. Switch to LED Bulbs 💡

Say goodbye to the days of your electricity meter spinning like a mad scientist's contraption! LED bulbs are the superheroes of the lighting world, swooping in to save the day (and your wallet) with their energy-saving powers. Plus, they last so long you might forget what a light bulb aisle even looks like.

2. Setting Your Water Heater to 120 Degrees and Insulating

Your water heater doesn't need to be a hot-headed drama queen. By dialing it down to a cool 120 degrees and giving it a snug insulation jacket, you'll keep it chill while keeping your bills even cooler. It's like giving your water heater a spa day without the hefty price tag.

3. Install Low-Flow Fixtures 🚿

Let's face it, sometimes we all need a little push to be more water-conscious. Low-flow fixtures gently nudge us toward eco-friendly behavior by limiting the flow without sacrificing the shower serenade or kitchen tap dance. Who knew saving water could be so melodious?

4. Not Cranking the Thermostat Too Far up or Down

Your thermostat isn't a DJ booth, so resist the urge to crank it up to nightclub temperatures in the winter or blast the AC like you're auditioning for a winter sports documentary. Finding that sweet spot saves energy and keeps your home's climate just right, Goldilocks style.

5. Caulking or Weatherstripping Around Doors or Windows

Don't let your home turn into a leaky sieve, letting precious energy escape like a Houdini act. Seal those cracks and gaps with caulk or weatherstripping and watch as your home becomes as airtight as a conspiracy theory.

6. Adding insulation in Crawl Spaces and Attics

Let's give those crawl spaces and attics a little TLC, shall we? Adding insulation is like giving your home a cozy sweater, keeping the warmth in during winter and the heat out during summer. It's like giving your house a big, comforting hug. Don't for get that super useful empty space above your head either. Christmas tinsel doesn't count as insulation either.

7. Checking Your Mortgage PMI 🏦

PMI may sound like a medical condition, and is just as sexy, but it's actually just an unnecessary expense hanging around like an unwanted guest at a party. If you've built up enough equity in your home, kick PMI to the curb and watch your mortgage payment shrink faster than cotton candy in the rain.

8. Check Your Home Insurance Options for Savings

Let's face it, you don't think about your home insurance unless something bad happens. Don't let your home insurance policy become the black hole of your budget. Shop around, compare rates, and snatch up those discounts faster than you can say "discount double check." Yeah, that's an oldie but a goodie right there. 😎

9. Cut Back on Paper Towels

Paper towels are so last season, my dude. Swap them out for reusable cloths or towels and watch as your bank account thanks you for the break. Plus, you'll be saving trees one spill at a time – it's a win-win for you and Mother Nature. You would be shocked how many you go through if you start paying attention.

10. Replacing Old, Inefficient Toilets

Let's face it, your old toilet is about as efficient as a leaky bucket. And it makes that weird noise for a while after you flush it until you jiggle the handle enough. Time to move on and bring your throne up to the standards of the current decade. Upgrade to a water-saving model and flush away those wasteful habits like yesterday's leftovers (gross🤮). Your wallet – and your planet – will thank you for it.

Bonus: Use the Correct Dryer Cycle and Wash with Cold Water

Don't let your laundry routine become a comedy of errors. Choose the right dryer cycle for your clothes and wash them in cold water to keep your energy bills from skyrocketing faster than a Elon Musk cryptocurrency tip (you still have that Doge Coin, don't you?). Your clothes will thank you for the cool treatment, too.
